About Camp Sandcastle

Camp Sandcastle, a program of the American Diabetes Association, was established in 1992 to broaden the opportunity of Coastal Bend children (ages 5-14) with diabetes to experience summer camp.

Camp Sandcastle is an exciting week long day camp for children with diabetes and their siblings. Children attending camp will experience outdoor fun while learning valuable lessons on positive diabetes management. Camp Sandcastle promotes self-confidence, independence, peer support and fun.

Physicians and nurses from Driscoll Children's Hospital Endocrinology Center are the staff support for Camp Sandcastle. They are joined by community volunteers who also donate their time to ensure these children have a great camp experience and help them learn skills and habits for a lifetime of good health.
