Tips for Signing up for Camp
Here are some tips for making this process as easy as possible:
- Register early. You can register online or request a paper application, but do it early! Start looking at Camps right after the new year. Some Camps fill up quickly!
- Write clearly and in dark ink (when filling out paper forms). Most Camps photocopy forms for review by the Camp medical team and Camp director. Print clearly, so they can easily read all information.
- Be complete and accurate. Even if your child is a patient of the medical director or has been to the Camp before, fill out the application and all forms completely with up-to-date information.
- Alert us to your child’s needs. Make a note about all of your child’s challenges. For example, give Camp staff a heads up if your child wets the bed, has an eating disorder, struggles with behavior issues, or has seen a mental health professional in the past year. This information helps Camp staff ensure your child has the best possible time at Camp.
- Don’t assume anything. Let us know if your child has religious restrictions, food allergies, or is easily upset by changes in their daily routine. Include this information in your application so we can accommodate your child’s needs if possible.
Contact your local American Diabetes Association and the Camp Medical Director if there is anything you would like to discuss. Please call BEFORE Camp — opening day is too late!
Space is limited. All paperwork and payments must be received no less than two weeks before Camp begins. Failure to do so will forfeit your child’s reserved spot.
