My Health Advisor Help

My Health Advisor doesn't look right on my screen.

My Health Advisor was developed for Microsoft Windows users running Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers, or for Mac users running Safari. If My Health Advisor looks funny on your screen, check to see that you're running one of the following supported browsers:

  • Firefox version 3 and above
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Safari 3 and above

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to answer a question in My Health Advisor.

The blue question marks next to each entry in My Health Advisor provide definitions and additional information. Move your cursor over the question mark to open the box.

One of the medicines I'm trying to enter is not in the list.

My Health Advisor only contains medicines directly related to diabetes and its complications. If the medicine you are looking for isn't on the list, My Health Advisor does not need to know about it to calculate your health risks. If you think My Health Advisor is missing a drug that should be included, please send us an email at MyHealthAdvisor@diabetes.org.

My Health Advisor is taking a long time to give me my results.

Because My Health Advisor is such a powerful, complex program, it does sometimes take a long time to process results. And, the more people using it at once, the longer results can take. It may take as many as 15 or 20 minutes to complete your personal risk assessment.

You can do two things while you wait: One, enter your email address and have My Health Advisor email you as soon as your results are complete. Then you can come back later to view your results and get your personalized action plan.

Or, go ahead and wait for your results. While you wait, you can watch the results overview to learn more about your results, or you can just minimize the screen and do other things while My Health Advisor works.

Either way, you're on your way to better health. Once you know your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, you can take steps to lower it. So you can live a longer, healthier life.

I have my results, but I don't know what I should do next.

Once you have your results, it's a good idea to do a couple of things. First, get your personalized action plan that outlines things you can do to start lowering your risk. Second, talk about your results with your health care provider.

You can get more information about managing your risk by calling the American Diabetes Association's toll-free number, 1-800-DIABETES (1-800-342-2383) or emailing AskADA@diabetes.org. If you have questions about My Health Advisor itself, please email MyHealthAdvisor@diabetes.org. We're not able to respond to all inquiries individually, but the information you provide will help us make My Health Advisor better for future users.
